As a non-profit organization we are constantly looking for innovative solutions to help us advocate for our clients. With a staff of 30 advocates, there is no doubt that community involvement helps us reach that goal. We are so proud to be a part of a community that understands domestic violence and works side by side with us to help end the cycle. Each time we publish at community spotlight, we are introducing you to a community member who is working to help end the cycle of violence. This month we are thrilled to share the great work of Joe Burns, President of BBI Construction Management.
Why does your business support Peaceful Paths?
BBI supports Peaceful Paths as part of our effort to give back to the community where our employees work and raise families. We are also proud to have been a part of the new Dutton-Shilling Facility on 53rd Avenue and had the opportunity to work with Dr. Beachy and her excellent staff in bring the project to fruition. During the process of planning and building the facility we had the opportunity to visit some of
the existing facilities and observed firsthand the assistance that many families were receiving. As a result of the new Dutton-Shilling Campus, Peaceful Paths is able to provide up-to-date and excellent services in one location.
How do you think our work impacts the community?
Peaceful Paths is a well-run organization with great leadership and is making a difference in the lives of many adults and children who are victims of domestic abuse by providing a full spectrum of services. Peaceful Paths gives these families a refuge from the domestic abuse they are or were experiencing, and we feel that it is important for BBI to support that effort.
Why is it important for local businesses to get involved with Peaceful Paths?
The City of Gainesville, Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, Alachua County, Santa Fe College and the University of Florida are all working to raise the level of the their individual stature nationwide. We feel that part of the support of that effort is helping those that find themselves in unfortunate situations to better their circumstances, which in turn will help to support the overall effort to improve our community and make it a better place for all of us to live!
