#GivingTuesday: November 28th, 2023

Peaceful Paths Domestic Violence Center is launching our Fund The Legacy initiative for Giving Tuesday to address a 40% reduction in federal funding over the next two years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our campaign aims to secure support for Peaceful Paths, over the next 2 to 3 years, while we await the return of full federal funding. This initiative is vital to prevent cuts to essential programs serving domestic violence survivors, ensuring they are not adversely affected by the current funding shortfall. Your help and support are crucial to sustaining these critical services.

Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 and seven new Allies in Action pledges. Peaceful Paths' Giving Tuesday, 100 Nights of Safe Shelter. One night of safe shelter on our gated campus = $100.

First started in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a special international day of giving each year meant to unofficially “open the giving season.”

This time of year had previously been linked to spending and shopping – some of the more materialistic endeavors that, for many, conflicts with the intended spirit of the holiday. Giving Tuesday started as a movement to fundamentally shift the sentiment around this time of year, from buying to giving – from selfish to selfless – from focusing on the economy to focusing on the community.

One night of safe shelter for a survivor costs us $100.

This #GivingTuesday, we are challenging our community to help us raise enough to sponsor 100 nights of safe shelter.

Safe shelter is one of the most important services we offer for survivors of domestic violence. It is where many survivors begin their journey to self-sufficiency by providing a safe haven for them and their children.

Our emergency shelter can accommodate up to 45 guests at any given time, and it is safely located on our beautiful gated residential campus. Our campus includes several play areas, a pet kennel, fully-stocked kitchen and laundry area. Our residential campus is conveniently located adjacent to our Outreach Offices which provides a continuity of care for our clients. All services provided to survivors through our organization are free and confidential. #GivingTuesday is an opportunity to support our mission to save lives and create change.

In 2021, we provided 43,326 total nights of safe housing for survivors and their families.

For the week of #GivingTuesday (Tuesday, Nov. 29 - Sunday, Dec. 4th) we encourage our community to give hope to those who need it most this holiday season. Support survivors of domestic abuse today by providing safe shelter and a new beginning.
