A safe space to find support and heal

Our clients and their children can greatly benefit from the support of other survivors. Adult support groups at Peaceful Paths are empowerment-based, interactive groups that are supportive and confidential. These groups allow survivors to share their experiences with other survivors, gain an understanding about power and control in relationships, and learn about the traits of healthy relationships. Our support groups are open to survivors of intimate partner violence—regardless of relationship status.

Groups are held at various times in the Gainesville and Starke outreach offices, and child and teen groups run concurrently with many of our adult support groups. Parents of children engaged in services will have the opportunity to meet with the Youth Services Advocate prior to and throughout their child’s participation. Click here to read more information about Child & Youth Programs.

The groups are not therapy — they are safe, supportive, and confidential spaces where survivors can receive educational information and advocacy from trained domestic violence advocates. Some examples of topics covered in these groups include:

• The Power and Control Wheel
• Warning signs in a relationship
• Cycle of violence
• Healthy Relationship skills
• Managing relationship stress
• My Relationship Rights
• Safety Planning

Participants need to complete and intake* prior to attending support group.

*Intakes are intended for anyone who has not received services from Peaceful Paths before or who has not participated in services for over 1 year. Intakes include filling out paperwork and meeting one on one with a trained domestic violence advocate.

Together, you will be able to figure out which of our services best suit your needs and schedule. You also may receive referrals to other community resources.
