Basics For Team Success
1. Personalize Your Page
Your team page is the place to tell your story. Share why you or your business, organization supports Peaceful Paths. This is where you should set a fundraising goal for your team!
2. Lead By Example
It’s a great idea to start fundraising by making the first contribution: others will be more likely to get involved. After creating your team page, don’t forget to invite your fellow team members. With the editor open, select Emails > Recruit new teammates.
3. Add Your Why to The Email
Best practice is to connect your email to your story and add why you are fundraising. Let your recruits know why this matters to you. That’s what they care about the most! Ask your recruits to join your team or to donate on your team page if they don’t want wish to fundraise! (They can still support!)
4. Start With Your Close Contacts
Your close contacts are the most likely to donate or join your team. Send some quick personal messages to your inner circle to build up momentum. Then use the email template you customized to reach all of your other contacts.
5. Now Move To Social Media
Peaceful Paths provides social media templates to help you start posting. Don't forget to tag and thank people that have already donated. There’s a social media toolkit available for your use, linked below under the Trail Guide. Don’t want to use a template? You can simply post your team page & ask people to donate or join your team!
6. Keep Your Team Motivated & Celebrate Their Progress
As the team captain, keep an eye out for team members that may need some encouragement or help with their fundraising efforts. Make sure to recognize team successes! Remind your team what your goals are and keep them progressing toward those personal & team goals!
7. Show Gratitude & Share Progress on Social Media
Remember to thank your donors and team often and update your network on your progress!

Tips for Recruitment
Some Things to Consider:
Think about who you want to invite to be part of your team. (Is this team going to be a specific social or work group you are affiliated with? Is it a family team? Is it a mix of all of the above?)
-
Does your team name reflect who your members are? *The captain is able to change the team name at any point if you choose to!
-
Team Names should be relevant to the awareness walk and reflect something related to DV Awareness, Survivor Support, Violence Prevention, or reflect your business or organization.
-
Are your team members also allowed to recruit additional team members to join? Make sure they know one way or another.
-
Consider who you are going to recruit and the best medium to do that for those individuals.
-
We suggest team size to range from 3-25 people, but this is not a strict rule!
-
Recruit early and often so your team has plenty of time to fundraise and grow your membership & donations before the walk!
Tips for Growing your Team:
-
Start by inviting your target team members whether that be family, friends, coworkers, social organizations, faith groups, etc. (or all of the above!)
-
If you participated in SIS 25, invite past teammates to join your team again.
-
Share why this cause/mission matters to you (personal stories inspire people to join.)
-
Post your team fundraising page on social media regularly.
-
Remember when sharing your team page, the purpose is to recruit new members, but your network can also choose to support you and Peaceful Paths by making a donation on the team page if they don’t wish to commit to fundraising.
-
Recruit a Co-Captain to help manage communication, recruitment, team motivation, and fundraising efforts.
-
Challenge your team!
-
Every team member recruits one more participant!
-
Fundraising challenges are also a good way to spark activity!
-
Remind your team that anyone that raises $100 on their individual page will earn a free SIS t-shirt
-
There are also team and individual recognition that will occur the day of the walk
-
Would a little friendly competition help to motivate your team?
